For reference on another forum it was reported that this afternoon the Amargosa crossing was moving and about 50 feet across. Party waded out and turned around when it was at mid-thigh. Obviously opted not to attempt the crossing in their lifted Tacoma. They are a “more access” kind of person but even said the road should really be signed closed.

Also reported the lake at Badwater was back to about two feet deep.

That’s a big jump from the “couple of inches” the lake was before. Thanks for the intel.

Obviously the big equipment had no problem crossing. I can understand regular folk passing on it.

River is down significantly today from yesterday. Should just be a puppy tomorrow. Assuming the shower going thru right now is as light as it seems…,

Lake Manly is a monster right now. This is just south of Badwater btw Bad & Hades.

Wow. Does anyone know how long it's been since Lake Manly was that big? That's impressive.

I’ve read that the last time it existed at all was 2005. No clue how big it was at that time.

Well, end of August (after not just Hillary but also some monsoon thunderstorms) but the whole park was closed so no one could visit it! By the time the park was open it had shrunk a fair bit and so what is there today might be bigger.

Next Sentinel pass is tomorrow and there should be no clouds, so should be able to compare the current size with the August max.

And yeah, other than that I’d guess 2005 but I also don’t know the total extent, but people did kayak from Tecopa to Badwater that year.

Some random photos from a day trip from my home, then in Big Pine, to see the super bloom on March 2, 2005. One shot includes the Amargosa River at West Side Road.
