You should be able to get to Saratoga Springs and Ibex Dunes coming from the Southern entrance off of 127 (Saratoga Spring Rd not Ibex Spring Rd). Caveat being that the Armagosa crossing isn’t too high. North of the turn off to Saratoga Springs (where it turns into Harry Wade), you’ll likely encounter deep sand. Also, don’t attempt to go North from Ibex Dunes to 127 that way. Sand & rocks require clearance and at least AWD. Thanks for the info! Sounds like I will need to focus on the valley part of Death Valley and not have much opportunity to get into the hills like Wildrose area. My general approach on trips is just to make a list of points of possible interest and not have more than a very vague plan, because I never know what conditions I'll find, or how interested I will be in a particular place when I get there, or if I'll end up attracted to an area that wasn't on my list. If I can hardly get off the pavement at all, I'm sure I will still have plenty to enjoy as l can just walk in all kinds of areas I have not been to for quite some time! RE: Question about camping - WayOutWest - 2023-02-28 As it turns out, a combination of weather issues and work demands means I have to postpone my trip. Now I'm not sure when I will finally get to visit Death Valley again....but certainly was glad to find this forum. Actually finding this forum makes it more likely I'll spend more time in the Death Valley area (including nearby outside park) due to the wonderful information shared here, which ends up creating more points of interest and desirable destinations. By the way, whoever did the banner photos on the top of this forum...they are absolutely astonishing! Such beautiful images there, every single one!
