It's storage for my own viewing; and if conscientious travelers can gain some ideas I am grateful. As wild places get busier, it has become an internal conflict to write actual TRs. Much of the Mojave and western Sonoran desert wilderness has evaded it thus far. I think there is space there for other desert enthusiasts without overrunning the place. Frontcountry, though, is really getting busy. Evident in the National Parks and also the long term BLM dispersed camping areas. RE: Death Valley and beyond Nov 2022 - Daymoth - 2022-12-14 OH BOY SO MANY QUESTIONS 1. Pete's peak /Aguereberry Pt. That looks awesome. How is the road up there? Am I right to think it might be open since the charcoal kilns are still accessible and a bit higher? Also that traverse looks wicked! Is it super crumbly slippery death valley unpleaseantness? Class 2 or 3? Looks steep. 2. Paiute canyon looks gorgeous. Still dont know the area at all, is this just off 40 to the south? 3. Wow those narrows in Lake Mead!!! I need to see if my car can get there. Googling like crazy. I can just dream of seing so much rock art in the wild. So pretty. With care in that one spot (a narrow canyon bottom) a Honda Civic could do it Piute Canyon is in Piute Range, east edge of Mojave National Preserve SW of Searchlight. Only HC vehicles the first 8 miles and true 4WD the last 1.5mi (I walked). Hole in the Rock area is good road (Burro and Rustler Canyons plus much else) Private Land (mine) makes the Anniversary Narrows a longer walkaround. I can send a map for that. The bighorn sheep images were cool. I've been keen to hike the Tetracoscus Ridge my next visit to DEVA so your images were most helpful in that regard. |
