Proof is found in this vintage footage where he escaped treacherous conditions to locate a substantial water source eventually channeled to The Oasis. If I ever get lucky enough to personally meet GowerGulch42 I'm scoring his autograph now that he's famous. But, meh, except for the one time when I got pretty well covered in thick black mud.
