MG, i'm sure that's a lot of great memories. Technically (i.e., according to some mapmaker of the past), the Panamints continue across Towne Pass and the Cottonwoods all the way up near Ubehebe Crater. I would definitely consider Tucki as part of the Panamints, at least as much as the Cottonwoods.
When I hit Bald from Wood canyon, I went down to 7726 and just improvised a path down from there to loop back to my vehicle. Very rough but straightforward way down.
