How lucky of a find. I've never seen a desert tortoise in DEVA but as a kid enjoyed them in the foothills in San Bernardino County, CA. Glad you left the shell behind. I've come across five full bighorn sheep racks in DEVA and leave them where they lay as well. The only time I've seen a scorpion is on the sidewalk at The Inn at Death Valley. Come to think of it, I've not seen a roadrunner at Furnace Creek or around the Visitors Center for two years now.
