DV to AZ 2022 winter trip

Well with all the rain and floods here in north california ( we are in atmospheric river #3 of 5 or so) im stuck in the sofa with my cat on my lap and making quite some progress on my SD cards.

So our guide took us to Dawa Park. A fantastic sacred site in Hopi land. Its this big flat area surrounded by yellow cliffs heavily decorated with rock art. You are literally surrounded by rock art. My totally uninformed opinion thinks this place must have been a trading center or a place of gathering and celebration.

There are a lot of depictions of the sun, people, animals water and what maybe looks like maps.





This one to me looks like a celebration, ready to eat the turkey on the right.



I havent seen a lot of rock art  ( yet) compared to many of you here, but this was my first time seing birds, and a lot of them! Made me so happy.



The 4 worlds. The Hopi came from the third world into the current fourth world through caves in the gran canyon.



Fun fact, to preserve the art in Dawa Park and another sacred Hopi site Tutuveni, there has been a project to digitize them. So you can feely access all photos and point clouds.
