Great story, Taco, enjoyed the narration and the pix, and thanks for the alien vid, I was wondering what that was about when you talked about seeing it. In about 1990 I went up to those towers (in a sedan!) and with my ANALOG cell phone got a strong signal, probably the only place in the whole park, really amazed me.
Sand Canyon is in the north part of the Owlsheads. I think it is north of the Amargosa crossing but I could be wrong on that, might be soon south of it. The name comes from some high hanging sand dunes up at the upper end. Pretty cool. Steve Hall used to do a good job documenting all those Owlsheads canyons, that area was one of his favorite haunts.
