Hunter Mountain - Cannabis Crazies
#1
I'm hoping to explore the Hunter Mountain area of DEVA during my Fall trip this year but I'm worried about running into the crazy cannabis creatures hiding their crops in the area. Any practical advice or experience with this issue. After watching this video I know what to keep an eye and ear out for and what to do about it.

I've placed the Death Valley Tip Line number 888-653-0009 in my phone as a precaution and urge my fellow forum members and guests here to do the same.

I haven’t been over the route since 2008. Never have heard of any issues with illegal grows. The route between South Pass and Teakettle Jct. is too well travelled so that I’d think any growers would seek more isolated locations.

Be sure to see the Hunter cabin. A great lunch spot is approximately here:

At the end of the short spur, which ends at a very steep slope, are wonderful views of the entire country below. Parts of The Racetrack can be seen, as well as the hills around the Lost Burro Mine, White Top, Goldbelt and far beyond.

Enjoy your trip.

Not to diminish your concerns, but illegal marijuana grows wouldn't make my Top 100 list of things that can go #%#@& in Death Valley.

Like DAW, I haven't been over Hunter Mountain in a few years as it has been socked in with mud / ice the last few times I was in the area, but Goldbelt Spring was worth a stop. Also saw Lost Burro Mine for the first time recently and that wasn't a bad stop.
