Shhh.... Both peaks are regularly climbed from the east side.

The trip is here!  I was feeling some stress from the prospect of starting the hardest and least familiar thing (Parkinson Peak) on the first day, so I am rearranging things.  I don't even know what I am going to do first yet--will probably depend on how much daylight is left when I get there. Will still be coming in via Trona.  Will write up a trip report when I get back. Thanks for all the thoughts shared!

BTW, the park site shows Saline Valley Rd as closed at both ends.  Not sure if those are soft or hard closures, but I won't be chancing it there.

Read the South Pass thread from the Saline Valley forum. Ignore the top few posts, there's been a bit of a squabble over donations. People are getting in and out. Mud, ruts, rocks. Snow is largely gone. Some substantial washouts in the valley. Basically with good AT tires and experience a standard 4WD can get in and out. There's been a report by one who was stuck for more than 40 days in the valley getting out in their 2WD van with AT tires.

North Pass is still undoable due to snow. As of the other day many have tried but can't get much pass Marble Canyon on the north, Whippoorwill Canyon on the south, even chained up.
