We have some plans being put in place to get pv.com back running. I don't have any timelines to share yet, but it will likely be after the first of the year. Resources for the server, and for the workload to spin up that server are, understandably, limited, being a volunteer effort.

Oh, wow! Thanks for the update.

Wouldn't it be easier to include a few Panamint Valley specific topics on Death Valley 2 and allow this forum to cover a greater area with more members?

In other words, merge the two sites? I think I posted a similar suggestion over there, when DV-net went down. Not a bad idea, IMHO.

Yes, merge the two sites. I think there are a lot of people that belong to both forums so merging them would allow for getting all the information in one location.

That's not an impossible thought. There do seem to be two different focuses. This site tends to be more hiking oriented, whereas pv.com tends to be more off highway vehicle oriented. Obviously, there is a great deal of overlap from a member perspective. There also is a fair bit of overlap from moderator perspective :-)
Merging the two sites, from a database and thread standpoint is not likely to be trivial.
My initial personal though would be to keep them as two separate forums, since there is a difference in their direction, but it's something worth looking at.

I'm not at all opposed to merging the two forums.

The two forums had a very different feel, purpose, and cast of characters, in my experience.
My personal vote would be to keep them separate.

If I had a vote, I'd agree with TacoLand for the same reasons he mentioned. We've enjoyed some "spirited" debates on PV.com that might upset some on this forum. (Just based on recent experience.)
