I was not aware of this particular Japanese Internment Camp, Manzanar until I drove by on my way to Death Valley nearly a decade ago. However, I was aware of Topaz Internment Camp a similar one in Utah.
Just today I learned that Dr. James Goto, the Medical Director of Manzanar attended the same James A Garfield High School in Los Angeles, CA as my mother. Dr. Goto graduated high school in 1929 about a decade ahead of my mother, Lois Manwaring (1942 during WWII)
