I guess the bees didn't make it.
CalTrans report as of this morning on QuickMap was that a beekeeper from the company was en route and they wouldn't be able to recover the semi until tomorrow, after the beekeeper has taken care of the bees, because the vehicle was "currently unapproachable." So apparently at least some of the bees must have fared relatively well.

That's great! That must mean that the hives were not destroyed. In order to be moved, a beekeeper will come all dressed for the job and with a smoker, which quiets the bees and makes them stay in the hive.

Once a friend stayed over with a box of bees for his hive. Something like 10000 bees in a container, with the queen in a little cage in the middle. The other bees won't leave the queen, and so are rather harmless packed that way. He was staying over but it was cold so the bees had to be inside for the night. It seemed cool, but my cats were VERY concerned Smile
Uhhhh, yeah, I don't think the hives made it.
