Apparently there was a 3 day power outage in the Valley, including FC and SPW.   I read somewhere that a number of EVs had to be towed out of the park.   I imagine with no power you can't get gas either.  I've been at SPW when there was a multi-hour outage in the evening and it is pretty sad for hungry folks who want to eat.

If gas pumps were not working because of power loss some vehicles dependent on fuel were probably sitting there also or waiting for someone to bring them fuel.

Yes, though it's easier to bring in a couple gallons of fuel than a couple of kWh or electricity Smile. But it sort of implies that people were "running on fumes" out there. I always leave enough gas to have a safety margin and be able to get to Pahrump or some place, and actually usually quite a bit more (though towards the end of a trip I'll try to avoid buying that expensive DV gas). I'm a fan of EVs in urban areas, but wouldn't want to take one out there. But most likely it's folks who just drive on pavement. I don't know of any charging stations there but that may have changed in the last year.
So that Sierra Wave article says that FC was able to pump gas with a generator, but eventually ran out of fuel. Worth noting for future reference. At least at SPW, power outages are not uncommon on windy days.
You can charge EVs at any 220v RV hookup. It's not fast, usually 2-6 hours depending on your vehicle, but definitely makes the trip doable from anywhere.
