They would also close the gate on WSR when the park "closed" due to Fed Govt shut downs.

First specific backcountry update I've heard via deathvalleynps on Instagram:

"We hear that roads are passable for experienced 4x4 drivers to Eureka Dunes. But a reminder that North Highway is closed, and crews report that Steele/Dedeckera are bad, so don't expect a through-route to other areas of the park."

For those not inclined to venture onto the shitbox that is Instagram ...

p.kizzy
@deathvalleynps How are the roads from big pine to Eureka dunes? Thanks

deathvalleynps
@p.kizzy hello! We hear that roads are passable for experienced 4x4 drivers to Eureka Dunes. But a reminder that North Highway is closed, and crews report that Steele/Dedeckera are bad, so don't expect a through-route to other areas of the park. If you're planning on heading out there this week, prep for some toasty Death Valley Summer conditions!

My son sent me this YouTube clip of someone driving successfully through the park shortly after the flooding. It was interesting and a bit humorous.

That was a great video.  Thanks!  Awesome look at conditions right after the flood.

Not nearly as bad as I expected/assumed ... unless you're driving a Nissan Altima.

Wasn't the park closed when this was filmed and then why are they driving on closed roads?

Mentioned once or twice in the video. They approached the Park through Towne Pass and apparently there were no signs saying it was closed until they exited through the other side.
