Forgot this picture from our short walk up Titus; what is holding that rectangular rock up?
A hold-up
Thursday I rented a Hummer from Farabee's; my son from Ridgecrest joined us; and I drove my group of five out to Racetrack, with a quick stop by the crater. After looking at the tracks, my son decided to climb Ubehebe Peak, but the rest of us explored the Ubehebe lead mine. We also visited the campground south of the Racetrack, which boasts the strangest vault toilet I've ever seen - a conveyor belt?
Friday/Saturday was another run back to Vegas (by way of Zabriskie Point) to put everyone on planes back to North Dakota, Ohio, and Montana. Sunday and Monday I did some poking around Artist's Palette and the Kit Fox hills.
Kit Fox sunset
Kit Fox narrow
Kit Fox cave, which I did not enter.
Artsy rock
'nother artsy rock
The rock below was from the Artist's Dips trail; it made me think of a planetarium ceiling piece.
Strange rock
Parting shot of Lake Manly. I did walk into it a bit; the water felt noticeably soft, and anywhere it splashed on my clothes or skin, it dried quickly, leaving a salt residue.
