So, apparently there has been some flooding in Death Valley today. Below is the post on the Park's facebook page.
I just checked the CalTrans site and I don't see any reported closures for CA Highways 127 or 190. The "Death Valley Road Conditions" facebook page (which is official) hasn't been updated for months.

Wish it would rain on those fires in northern California that is choking us out here in northern Nevada with smoke. We got a few sprinkles and thunder this afternoon, but it was so smoky I never knew that there were clouds in the sky.

Thanks for notifying us. I believe that image location is Highway 190 just north of the Furnace Creek Visitors Center and before the overflow parking/camping lot on the east. You can see the overflow area in the upper right margin of the image.
In October 2015 I experienced a nearly identical deluge and drove through the flat flood waters pouring east to west over Highway 190. Coincidentally I just posted yesterday a link to my video covering that storm in a thread over in Death valley Talk in this forum.

Occasionally I think that the Carson City/Reno/etc area might be a good alternative to Las Vegas (some winter weather, but not so hot in the summer). But then I visualize myself sitting in a cloud of smoke for the entire summer. And suddenly the Vegas heat doesn't seem so bad!

Winds have blown out the smoke out of Reno and it is clear right now. Visibility is about a mile here. Everything is dishwater gray with no landmarks or horizon visible. It is also 85º in Reno and 93º here. I can’t run my cooler, as it simply brings in smoke. With my emphysema (never smoked), pressurizing the smoke in the house just makes it worse. I have a master bedroom window AC and it keeps the livingroom tolerable, but not cool ...

Do you have an air purifier? I'm in the SF Bay Area, and last year with the horrific smoke conditions we had two large air purifiers running in the living room to make the smoke level more bearable, plus the fans helped it feel cooler on hot days.

Yes I do have a large purifier. The smoke has finally cleared out. Monsoon moisture has parked itself over the Tamarack fire near Markleeville on two nights and during the day, which has aided considerably fire fighting efforts. It hasn’t effected the Dixie fire as much but humidity has risen and showers have dotted parts of it. The last two days have been clear and it certainly helps the mind and lungs.
