I'm still catching up with life after my own trip, which I started posting about, and now trying to catch up with your TRs I'm glad someone else pointed out the blister beetles. Once I found a few bushes just crawling with them down low off 190 N of Furnace, in an area some call "The Crack".
Now really, if I were ever going to steal a BM marker, it would have to be "Death", no? Old Martin Crossing sign. I've got a few pix going back many years ago. It looks like the lettering has peeled off entirely by now. I assume you read the little inscription on the metal on the post, not that it added much. BUT... the real crime there is that Latitude is what is North, not Longitude! But you are also right about West vs East. It is funny to take a pic, as you did as well, with the cabin in the background. I gather the road up there used to be driven, and perhaps the cabin maintained, but it is a mess now, mostly taken over by packrats, and I sure would not spend much time in it.

Oh your Marble hike must have been in the vicinity of the 15th / 16th? We were on the other side of the valley looking at the geoglyphs and saw the cottonwoods getting totally hammered. That's Tucki on the other side of the basin so the Marble area is in the midst of that really big dark cloud. It is really amazing to see the washout down at the camp area (which I presume is just inside the "gates" of the joint canyon?) and actual water flowing in Marble!
We even put on rain pants, and got some hail. There was a tremendous dust blow on the valley floor that preceded a different storm cell that breezed over Corkscrew in the early afternoon.

Water was flowing out of the canyon the entire night of the 15th and into the morning of the 16th when I began my hike. By the time I got out of the canyon late on the 16th, the water was no longer reaching my campsite.

If you've ever wondered what the structure is like at the top of the hill above the Desert Inn as I have, here it is in all its dilapidated glory.
I think it used to be a place to enjoy tea. Went out with Beardilocks again to explore some canyons and we found this lovely gem. He'll probably post a better photo, but I like having a human for scale.

That's pretty cool - the bridge or tunnel, not the building, but I have wondered about that every time I drive down on 190.

Back in early days of DV tourism, they used to have sunrise Sunday services up there, though I’m not sure if it was in that building.

Nice bridge!! You and Beardilocks have been finding a lot of very interesting formations recently! Also glad to see you post about where you've been; I was starting to get worried about you two getting stranded out somewhere remote, not having seen an update here on the forums recently

Just the vast remote unpopulated land of 190/Badwater Rd. 😁 But a land of almost no cell reception when it’s this crowded (busiest I’ve ever seen). Literally stuck in traffic today.
Just been out looking for cool things under everyone’s nose. More soon.
