Really saddened to see more precious Joshua Tree forests destroyed by unnaturally hot fire carried by invasive ground vegetation.
Caruthers Canyon and Castle Peaks and the J-Trees of Lanfair Valley appear to be in the path.

Yes, this is a tough fire to witness, you don't think of the open desert as a place where fires occur. Interestingly there haven't been big fires in the CA forests this year. I hope it stays that way if only for the selfish reason that I'll be in the Eastern Sierra starting late next week and I cherish the clear skies, in the years when I get them.

There's much in the Mojave Preserve that I still need to see if it is not horribly burned.
