DEATH VALLEY, California (KOLO) - The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent bomb/shooting threat made in Death Valley.

At around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, the ICSO received a 911 call about a threat at Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley. The caller claimed to be a relative of a former employee of the ranch.

The responding agencies included the Inyo-Mono County Special Enforcement Detail, the Death Valley National Park Service, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, CHP, National Park Service-Lake Mead, and the FBI.

A search of the area was conducted using an explosive detecting K-9, but, at this time, no threats have been identified.

The investigation is active and ongoing. The ICSO says access to the area is currently limited due to the nature of the incident.

I’ve been up on West Side Rd for 8 days and didn’t see a soul much less a gunman. Haha! Going into FC tomorrow though. Hope the situation is resolved.

Never heard a peep about it again ... I think you're safe. Minus the gas prices & tourons at FC. Good luck!
