Union Pacific's historic steam locomotive, X4014, came to Winnemucca July 8, 2024 to tie up overnight. X4014 is the largest operating steam locomotive in the world. It's currently heading westbound to Roseville, CA via the Feather River line, then return to Cheyenne, WY later in the month. A friend of mine - a retired lifelong railroad employee for first Southern Pacific, then later UP - and I went to see it. Here is a 3.5 minute video I took of the train at Winnemucca.

Very impressive, thank you. I liked the part where the diesel engine went by; looked like two diesels were the length of the one steam engine.

Here's a video of "Big Boy #4014" that a friend took as it passed through Oroville, CA.

Much appreciation for this train thread and for those great videos. My grandfather worked for the Union Pacific in the 1920's so I've love trains forever. One pleasure of driving east or west along I-80 is seeing the trains running along side. I also enjoy the Facebook group Railroads of Death Valley.
