Stovepipe motel

I know most of the regulars here sleep in or near their vehicles in wild places, but will note anyway..  A lot has happened at SPW in the last year.  They have redone the rooms - all new furniture, carpeting, beds, lighting.  Well the table lamps are original.  It actually looks pretty nice.  And the are literally just these days replacing the noisy 40 + year old AC units with very quite mini splits.  As in, you can't hear the neighbor's unit blasting if you are trying to just sleep with the windows open and natural air.  Fridge is new (literally, the one in the room was busted and they wheeled in a new one in the box in 20 minutes).  No freezer.   Doesn't seem to get below 40 (I carry a fridge thermometer).   Maybe one of the two ice machines died today so that will be entertaining if the entire place has to use one machine,   The restaurant has a $15 breakfast buffet but we don't eat there so no comment on qualitty.

Oh my but it is getting hot in the next few days.

Oh, and now the wifi works in the rooms. Starlink. We got 17 Mb/s. But for a while this evening it disappeared. What the heck, we're not out in the desert to stay connected.

Interesting news. That place is always a decade behind the times on everything.

Yes but we stopped at the general store at FC this evening and I was a bit creeped out by all the people!
