Emigrant Canyon Road Explore
#11
Ah, I see, interesting. I've been there but did not follow those trails / roads far enough down to see the wagon. Maybe worth another visit. It is an interesting area. Nearby I followed an old, now closed, road and stumbled upon an old constructed trail heading over to the Tucki (is that what they are called?) mines. There are also some nice viewpoints out over the valley one can walk to. Thanks again for the lead!

It's all in the "small world" vibe. When I went to that site, it was based on some mention of it in the forum (probably the old one), maybe you DAW, maybe someone else. The Ski3pin blog mentions going in Black Point Canyon the previous day based on a description on Jim Boone's web site, birdandhike. I took Jim in there and my family is in some of Jim's photos. But I didn't stumble across it myself, but rather got the first hints from our own Kauri. So, what goes around, comes around.
I appreciate any info which leads me to fun days out there.

Forum member GowerGulch I believe has explored the Blue Bell Mine a bit, which is referenced in Ski3pin's blog and sounds like the one you're heading to. I recall actually first hearing about it via GG's blog post. It's on my list but unfortunately I haven't been able to make it back to DV recently. But it's definitely a spot I'd like to learn more about the history.

Ah, thanks, sounds likely that is where I heard about it. I've not checked out his blog - sounds like an error on my part! I'm heading to the Sonoran desert tomorrow - Tucson and south - but will be out in DV in the early spring.

Just checked and looks like GowerGulch has two posts on his blog about that area:

Thanks. Indeed I am pretty sure I saw one of these as I went in about that time frame. I missed the one with the wagon though. Well, just have to go back Smile

Glad you had a good time! I looked but did not find the "Italians in the Gold Rush" plaque on my visit. Everything else looks about as it did a fill 10 years ago, which is nice.
