Steve Hall's panamintcity.com gone May 2

Steve may not be a technical rock climber, but he was one hell of a scrambler. Some of those bypasses like Talus Jack give me shivers.

But, I'm not finding anything there.
Can someone post a URL that points to the panamintcity.com content?
(I emailed Steve Hall, and he replied to me that he is not interested in sharing/selling his content... but, that he believes someone has it archived on the web, somewhere; and he encouraged me/us to find it.)

its not available on archive.org, because someone (presumably Steve Hall) requested that it be taken down.

No one will be able to post a URL where its mirrored, as Steve Hall explicitly forbade public mirroring of the site when he announced it was going away.

Sorry, but Steve doesn't want you to have this information.

Thanks. Fortunately over the years I saved a few of his trip reports.

But, the email I received from Hall just 15 minutes ago in fact encourages me to try to find a copy of his data.

He is not making it easy, but I didn't discern that he doesn't want people to find it if they are able to find it.

Can you elaborate on what that means exactly? I mean, I know where a mirror of the data exists, but unless Steve says that he is ok with it being made publicly available, I can't share it with anyone.

I will send you a PM, if this system allows that, and send you the exact message Hall sent me.

At the time Steve took his website down, he said that he would publish a book with the information. No sign of a book yet. He is posting videos on youtube of other adventures:

Thanks for that info about a potential book, Trailhound! I would buy at least two copies. Smile

And, yes, I like his YouTube channel a lot too.

Someone please say if Steve needs any help preserving his life work. It would be an absolute loss for this information to never be seen or used again. Steve's information is a national treasure to the park.

shosko - Only Steve would know if he needs help.  Ask him.  His email as posted on his former website is

steveinathens@hotmail.com

Do not overlook Kauri Jacob's website.  It has detailed trip reports to many DV destinations.
