Yes, though it's easier to bring in a couple gallons of fuel than a couple of kWh or electricity
. But it sort of implies that people were "running on fumes" out there. I always leave enough gas to have a safety margin and be able to get to Pahrump or some place, and actually usually quite a bit more (though towards the end of a trip I'll try to avoid buying that expensive DV gas). I'm a fan of EVs in urban areas, but wouldn't want to take one out there. But most likely it's folks who just drive on pavement. I don't know of any charging stations there but that may have changed in the last year.
