When I worked in Trona (1987-2004), a co-worker there was born in Lone Pine and grew up in Keeler. His aunt owned and lived in the railroad depot.

As a kid he knew about those caves and played in them. They found all sorts of stuff, though as kids didn’t know their historical value. So lots of artifacts were destroyed in childish play.

I found a 1960 Inyo Independent article about his birth and that his four year old sister was happy to have a new brother.

The last time I saw him was at the Carl’s Jr. in Lone Pine around 2007 or so. He had left working in Trona long before I did and returned to Lone Pine and was working with the company doing dust mitigation on Owens Lake.
