Anyone know "rockslide" from DV.net?
#1
This is a long shot, but does anyone know how to contact "rockslide" from death-valley.net?

He wasn't super active as I recall.  He did post some trip reports, but hadn't been active the last two years or so of the forum.

IIRC he may have worked at the same place as Sierra Sparkles but I don't know either of them personally. I have recently linked up a few contacts on FB who are regulars out in the area and I'll see if any of them mention him. There's a whole bunch of interconnections socially; it's rather fascinating actually.

Rockslide ... Boy, that is a blast from the past! If I remember right, he was a member in the old, original DV Talk, wasn’t he?

I just spot-checked the DV Talk archives, but didn't come across a user named rockslide.

I'm pretty sure Sparkles sometimes hiked with Cori aka SnowNymph. I have some recollection of Rockslide posting about Panamint Butte from the Big Four Mine!

He definitely did post about climbing Panamint Butte from the west.  However, the report I best recall involved an unique route, up a different ridge south of the Big Four Mine.

That route is what I'm primarily interested in!  Though it would be nice if he'd come back and participate again. Big Grin

Maybe rockslide was part of the original DV.us forum that predated DV.net.

I think I recall Rockslide posting on DV.net occasionally at some point after I joined, which was in 2010, but I could be confusing him with someone else. But I do recall mention of the "Rockslide Route" up Panamint Butte!

Correct, rockslide was a contributor to the recently-closed forum.  Including the "Rockslide Route" on Panamint Butte! Big Grin

I don't know how far back his participation went, if he was on DV.us or not.  My concern is getting back in touch with him!

LOL, I just never know what I might find when searching...not the depths of the internet, but the depths of my laptop!  Tongue

This afternoon I found the map below, while looking for something totally different.  To say the least, it wasn't in any folder it "should" have been in.  I presume it is the map he posted, because it doesn't look like any mapping software I've ever used.

Perhaps in the future, I need to first search my laptop, THEN the internet!   Big Grin
