Better late than never, my Chad trip is finally going to happen. By this time next week, I'll be heading about 1000km deep into the Sahara, camping 17 nights. All to see stuff like this:

I would read your gear reviews if they're anything like your trip reports.
Easy travels and look forward to seeing photos & hearing all about it. Cheers!

I always recommend my favorite and most versatile bag I own, the Western Mountaineering Alder.
It is lightweight and extremely comfortable. can fully unzip to be a down blanket which is how I use it on summer backpacking trips in the mountains

Hey netllama, since you're heading to African desert regions I thought for sure you'd have ordered a "mummy style sleeping bag." Shredded papyrus might be a better insulator than down? lol Have a great trip and I look forward to your eye candy photos!

MG, oh that's funny and I can take it like a man when the joke is on me. lol
Netllama, you're young enough that I'd bet my Social Security check that you'll be exploring the vast landscapes of Mars in twenty years. I'm serious and envious at the same time.

since I am transitting CDG on a 4 hour connection, I'll drop this shot of Aloba Arch to whet your appetite:
Its the 8th largest (by max width) arch on the planet. The top 7 are all in Utah & China. More photos after i'm home on thursday.
Also the quilt performed very well. it was perfect for overnight lows around 10C. Strong recomend.
