I've been away (off hiking in Montana) and just coming back to this discussion. I read an interesting opinion piece somewhere recently asking whether posting geotagged photos violated the "Leave No Trace" ethic. Interesting question in the digital age.

Interesting concept. My digital camera has no capability to geotag, but I’m not sure if my phone does. I suppose if I keep the GPS turned on for 911 services, the camera might just automatically geotag.

All smart phones with GPS/Location service functionality enabled will automatically embed GPS coords in photos EXIF data unless you disable the behavior.
