Paul Hoefler filmed busy times in Death Valley during the 1940s including airplanes, cars, trains, and horses along with hundreds having a splendid time even during World War II. Top hits from the era coincide with various scenes. Scenes are distilled from twenty two minutes of footage down to three and a half minutes and reordered to tell this story of visitors arriving and thriving in Death Valley National Monument.

Seeing the folks dancing made me wonder; I've heard Fiddler's Campground was named for the fiddlers who would play for large square dancing groups. Have you seen any clips of square dancing there?

A fun video. Don't see those kids complaining that there isn't anything to do, no smart phones or video games, eh? Everyone interacting, nobody isolating themselves in a crowd focused on their phones.

The crowds and activities make me wonder if this was the first Death Valley '49ers encampment. The group was formed in 1949.
