Sad

Poor coyote, and they couldnt even give it vet assistance. All those idiots feeding them from cars I wish them explosive diarrhea.

Poor bat and poor lady ( although why on earth was she handling a weirdly behaving bat with only nitrile gloves I cant understand). Glad she got medical care quick! That article is weird, im pretty sure rabies is not usually fatal, but allways fatal if not treated.

I just checked and treatment of rabies still involve a series of shots. Maybe 50 years ago, I remember hearing that it was a painful experience to be treated after exposure to rabies; not so sure today. Needle technology is vastly better and less painful than it was back then.

Rabies is still a miserable experience regardless, and requires multiple shots. You can get vaccinated (requires 3 shots spread over several weeks). Even then, you will need another shot if you're bitten by by a rabid animal. If you're not vaccinated, then you need multiple shots after being bitten. And the time window for getting them is fairly short.

I had the pre exposure shots and they were totally fine ( the flu and covid shots were worse).

But if you are bitten and didnt have the profilactic course then you need to get all the shots plus the inmunno globulin one wich apparently is pretty unpleasant. Still, the alternative is an assured miserable death so...
